THOUGHTS FROM THE PREACHER

The whole duty of the whole church is to take the whole gospel to the whole world.

As we leave 2007 with our theme of Year of Jubilee: Returning to His Steps, we move into 2008 with our new theme of Building On the Rock.    In our 51st year we want to emphasize the wisdom of growing with total faith in Jesus, our rock.    I hope 2008 is a year of tremendous spiritual growth for you….

The end of the year has also brought the passing of two of our beloved members, Bob Watson and Leonora McEnerney.    Bob and Inez helped start Northwest in 1957 and Bob served as the first minister.   Leonora and her husband Bill were instrumental in helping us raise funds for the auditorium built in 1989.   We extend our deepest sympathy to both of these families….

I hope you will either continue or start to be a daily Bible reader in the new year.    By reading the Bible and praying regularly we maintain an ongoing communication with our Father.   And that can be vital to our spiritual growth….

We start 2008 with more than 60 of you who were not members of Northwest when 2007 began.    We are thankful for the growth of the past year and anticipate even more growth in the coming year.   Isn’t it exciting to think that there are people who will soon be coming through our doors for the first time, and by the end of the year they could be among our best friends.    Be sure to greet visitors each week, because you could be meeting your next best friend.    And please wear your nametag to help our visitors.  Don’t have one?   Lost yours?    Dog ate it?   We can fix that—just give the office a call or note on your attendance card that you need a nametag….

I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
